Virginia imposes tougher data-centre accountability measures and creates an AI Task Force

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed Executive Order 22 establishing a Data Center Accountability Framework and a new AI Task Force. The framework addresses transparency, environmental impacts, energy costs, clean energy, workforce effects and local engagement. It also restricts the use of non-disclosure agreements for certain data-centre projects and directs additional scrutiny of large facilities. The AI Task Force is tasked with examining workforce displacement, data privacy and cybersecurity risks from AI.
